What do we need.....?

I got asked that question today in a round about way....It's got me thinking and taking a look at our race team from the outside...Maybe it is motor, that we can fix easy enough....I really think the motor is fine.

I know it helps being on the "inside" with some folks that U are not racing against and will give U straight answers...Big teams have a huge advantage in info alone....Tires are everything...I sure would like to have a tire guy in my pits, chassis guy wouldn't hurt either.

So to answer the question.....Luck.

Started the first mods today on the HHR.....

I got a nice set of race pedals for Christmas and got them on today....Took off the little small GM pieces at the bottom front on the front doors....Got rid of the pinstripe and dealer logo sticker....It looks nice and clean now....The Cobalt SS springs won't get here till Sat. and if it ain't raining I'll put them on to level up the ride height.....I'll post some pics when I get the new springs in.

Got the springs this morning and put them on....They even the ride up very well....This was the best $30.50 mod ever....See pics below.

Maxxis National 2008

Got to the track around 11:30 Friday and decided to fix our smoking animal motor...I didn't realize how bad it smoked at idle until we crunk it up at home Thursday night before loading it up in the trailer....I just didn't want to go into this National with a motor that I thought might not be up to par so I tore it down at the track and replaced the oil ring spring...It worked and I got the motor back together in plenty of enough time to make some practice runs Friday afternoon.

Man what a crowd...The kart counts were huge....55 in Animal heavy on Saturday and 48 in Animal med on Sunday....We didn't make the show for the heavy race...Pole was 14.00 and Devin went a 14.66. We got faster every time we hit the track all weekend long and he turned it up a notch for Medium and went a 13.66 that was good enough to make the show even if we had to start on the back row....Pole was a 13.25 In the main he made it up to about 18th and hit a piece of lead that fall off another kart, he thinks it bent something when that happened and pulled off the track 2 laps later....He thought he was close to being lapped because of the trouble with the kart but the leaders still had a half a track or more before catching him.

The best in the country were there and I am proud of him for making the show....Big thanx goes out to Bradly for help all weekend....Tire warfare was rampant...If U missed the tires even a little bit U were either going to just slide thru the turns or the tires would go away after about 2 laps and that slowed U down atleast 2 or 3 tenths a lap.

Here is the qualifying results for Animal Medium....

Below are some pics we took while at the track....

Here comes the unique part...We will accept no money upfront for the DVD's....Just give us your address and we will send U the DVD in the mail....If U think it's worth the asking price which will be $10 then just put the money in the self addressed envelope that will be sent with the DVD and drop in the mail. If U are not happy with the DVD just put it in the same envelope and send it back.

I have read one to many horror stories about race DVD's taking months and months.....These should be ready in about 2 or 3 weeks.

We will have a table set-up at the P&R Photos booth with all the info and sheets to leave us your address on if U are interested or U can send me a PM at www.4cycle.com my screen name is Wee

We should have some teaser videos posted here in about a week or so.

It's the tires.....

I have heard Bradley tell us that countless times, we have listened and tried to up our tire game.....Well to be honest we are not so good with tires and we found out just how bad last night at the final Ga Maxxis race at Peachstate.

We got our butts handed to us again come qualifying time.....Turned a 16.65 in last round practice with our new right side HT3's prepped with what I figured would work...Devin was pretty fast compaired to the other karts and I thought we were finally gonna break the Peachstate qualifying jinks....WRONG they only lasted one round and fell way off for qualifying went a 17.05 and qualified 11th out of 14.... Tires would just not stick and even when we went 16.65 the kart was still a handful to drive.....So Devin went to talk with Bradley about tires.....He offered a set he had ran in practice that had 2 or 3 races on them for us to run....We took him up on the offer and finished 8th with a FT of 16.05 Bradley ran a very close 2nd and turned a FT of 15.8 or so.....The kart really came to life with Bradley's tires, it settled down and was much faster. It was really like night and day and tires were the only change we made.

Bradley really knows his tires and he now has another tire customer.

Thank you Bradley for letting us borrow the tires...

Big changes coming in karting next season....

Tri-State is morphing into a full blown National Series with more big players involved besides Troy Duncan....Look for lower entry fees and less cash payout, but more prizes futher back into the field....I was told more in-depth details but I'm not gonna spill all the beans or be the first to post any of this at 4cycle.

Look for more local tracks to go to a Maxxis tire rule and be involved in the Big Gun series....I wish Dawgwood would get the other races instead of Peachstate and I'm sure Carnesville will still have there far share.

If U have a limited motor better sale it now....Won't be any series running them on dirt next year....I hear both Big Gun and what used to be Tri-State are dropping the Limited class next year....Bad part is that's what we were planning on running next season.

That's about I can tell right now and I prolly shouldn't even tell this....But hell nobody reads this site anyway....LOL

Peachstate is just not our track....

Another bad run at Peachstate, although he was very fast during the last round of practice and the kart handled better than it ever has before at that track....It went down hill from there. First I twisted my ankle pretty bad but kept on walking on it until we packed up the trailer.....It was worse than I thought, Doc says I broke a bone in my foot.

I guess I made the wrong calls for qualifying, we slowed down from a FT of 15.92 during last round practice to 16.24 for qualifying....That put us 12th out of 15. I was hoping to pick up a couple tenths not slow down....Pole was a 15.55

We have never qualified good at Peachstate.....

The main was the worst part of the night.....Devin made a good move and jumped to the inside and picked up 3 or 4 spots at the start of the race....A couple karts got back by going down the back straight and he got hung up on the outside which let the karts running in the rear catch up....Next time by in 3 and 4 a kart got under him and proceeded to drive him up the track out of the groove....Devin spun and as he was going around clipped the other kart and it spun to....I guess somehow the other driver felt all that was Devin's fault and proceeded to ram there kart into Devin's as they got back on the track...Devin was setting still facing the wrong direction when this happened.....Well at some point during all that the valve stem on the LF got pulled out of the rim and it went flat....The kart was junk after that and Devin got out of the way and let the leaders fly by....Next time in turn 3 & 4 he got kart-hopped and it bent the exhaust pipe over into the RR and the smoke flew....He just pulled off the track past the flagstand and our night was over.....Devin handled the situation like a man, I can't say the same for the other driver involved in the first wreck....They had a few choice words for Devin after the race was over when Devin walked by there pits....That's alright we will be ready for the last Ga Maxxis race at Peachstate and we will have our heads held high.
