Kartfest 2008.....

Well there was a few empty booths but not near as many as some have made it out to be.

The word I got today at Kartfest is that the Ridley's did infact send money for the banquet. I owe them an apology.

The winners at the Ga Series will still get there jackets...Nice trophy and plaques were handed out along with some door prizes.

I would like to thank those at WKA that handled the banquet expecially Marie.

I think the sniffer is gone and U will have to race the tires U qualify on....It looks like prep is back in.....I hope they still brand tires first thing in the morning....If not I don't think we will run anymore Nationals...I just can't afford 2 or 3 sets prepped different ways sitting in the trailer waiting to be pulled out after figuring out which prep works best works best.

Here are some pics...They didn't turn out to good.

Volusia & WKA.....................................?

It seems that both are taking alot of heat at 4cycle...WKA for the whole tire prep issue and low kart counts and Volusia for the ruff track and low kart counts....It seems I pissed off someone at 4cycle and Bob deleted there account....I could be wrong but the guy posted about the low kart count at this years WKA Dirt Nationals and posted a link to mylaps for the races....He had posted the links to the Volusia money races and I let him know he was wrong about the kart count...Next thing I know his account is deleted and Bob was posting in his place to let him know he was banned....Anyway that got me to thinking and I started to post this in that post at 4cycle but decided to just post it here.....Here is my take on the ruff track issue.....Mike will have to guarentee the karters a good track or he would give the parking fees back....It was ruff this year....Prolly the ruffest track we have ever been on in 7 years of racing....But was super smooth the year before....I know the weather didn't coperate and he had been having problems with the track for about 2 months before the National....Not sure if he needs new dirt or what but he has to fix it if WKA goes back.....JMO

WKA tire rule idea.....?

They need to limit the tires to one set per class and require that they be branded before any karts hit the track, I don't care what the rest of the rules are.....The Sniffer was beat by Hotlap applied at the track at this National....ask anybody that was there....some pushed it too far and got caught.....Mr. Tim Ridley was not there running the sniffer, Buck was doing the branding and I think his Granddad was running the sniffer at the grid.....We ran 6th so we never went thru post race tech, I don't know who was running that one....It didn't work to catch what 90% of the teams there would have been using if it was an open prep rule anyway....I think the sniffer works much better in a controlled environment....It seemed to catch plenty of tires at the Ga State races after the impound was emplemented, only problem was they let them replace the ones that were reading to high...I could kinda understand replacing one tire if the rest of the set was legal but if that set reads high U don't get a second chance....It should be DQ for that class.....WKA needs to do some testing and see if the sniffer really works are not....Ya'll need to learn to use it or throw it away.....If it can't catch Hotlap it ain't worth squat.

The pits...19 in lite....Devin qualified 8th and finished 6th....It was a pretty good run for us.....I hope we can raise close to $700 to be able to make it to the next one in April.

WKA.......?

I agree with Gene on this one....Almost everyone that races a kart is/was/or will be affected by what WKA does.....If they folded who would take over the rule book....? How many tracks are not gonna use the WKA 2008 tech manual next year.....? How many tracks use the AKRA motor rules.....? It does mater and they will listen if U make enough noise.....I can be very loud when I need to be.

I filled Jimmy Rivers ear full at the last Ga State race about my amazement over the stupid valve lenght rule that was to take effect this year starting at Daytona, I also sent plenty of e-mails....Guess what they listened and now the rule has been dropped.

When this years tire rules were posted on the WKA website they didn't clearify that it was thick HT3's only for Daytona....So I sent some more e-mails and contacted my new 4cycle rep and voiced my opinion that the rule need clarifying....Well they listened again and I'm a nobody as far as WKA knows.

However I think Hotdog is dead on with his post about WKA catering to the kart shops and a certain few race teams....Why....? Because they thing if the tick them off they will take there ball and go home....They really need the sponsor money I guess....? I've seen this with my own eyes at Dexter and the tire cutting that was allowed to skirt by....When they were called out about it all they did was start fussing about being called cheats....One guy was being very obnoxious at the grid talking to the WKA tech officals....They wouldn't stand up to him...It took a local lady that works at Dexter to tell the guy to calm down and walk away or she would have him removed because, in her words...."Nobody is allowed to talk like that at Dexter I don't care who U are"....He walked away.

I think for WKA to get the numbers back anywhere close to where they used to be they have to give up trying to be the pro series and come to terms with the fact they are really more like the amature series....Drop the entry fees and enforce the rules no mater who it is that's caught breaking them....More karters like us will show up.....Let the big boys race for the money....We race for leather.

We got our new 2008 Falcon and it's almost finished....

The numbers show up much better in the daylight....

Devin went up to York's tonight and picked up the body.....Damn the graphics look good....He did a killer job...We owe a big thanx to York. Devin worked his butt off at Thunder pitting for them and York returned the favor....He just had to mount the body as soon as he got back to the shop...Here are some pics I took tonight.
